This webinar will introduce interpreters to a topic that is becoming more prominent in our careers. We are finding ourselves interpreting HIV testing, HIV/AIDS results as well as care for the patients once they have been diagnosed. The objective of this webinar is to make interpreters more aware of HIV and AIDS. They will be more familiar with terminology that they will encounter during these types of assignments.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Participant will be able to identify at least three basic acronyms and sign choices related to Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS).
  2. Participants will be able to describe the processes patients experience when seeking treatment or counseling for Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) or Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS).
  3. Participants will be able to identify five tests related to the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS).
