ASL Fingerspelling & Numbers

This workshop by Erik Hoover will consist of brief lectures and productive drills for those who aim to enhance their receptive and expressive aptitude. The following topics will be covered: - Fingerspelling Rules & and the three "Cs" of Fingerspelling Strategies - Cardinal Numbers, Ordinal Numbers, Dates, Days, Weeks, Months, Years - Names, Age, Heights, Weights, Fractions, Family Tree - Addresses, State Abbreviations, Phone Numbers - Cents, Dollars - Jersey Numbers, Scoring in Sports, Ranking, Decimals - Lexicalized Fingerspelling, Abbreviations, Acronyms

Educational Objectives:

ASL interpreters and learners will be able to identify specific morphemes, clarifying the techniques used at a level of fluidity seen in native signers. Participants will be able to evaluate their sign productions and integrate the drills into their ASL use and interpreting practices.
