This workshop is to discuss why it’s important to look and dress professionally as an interpreter according to RID’s code of conduct but also for the perception of the deaf client and consumer. This workshop will provide details of what’s acceptable and unacceptable in the field of interpreting as it applies to clothing and give helpful tips on exactly what to wear.

Educational Objectives:

  • Participants will be able to list RID’s code of conduct for appearance and how this relates to attire and professionalism.
  • Participants will identify what’s appropriate attire in different settings.
  • Participants will identify what’s acceptable and unacceptable clothing through visual examples shown throughout workshop.
  • Participants will be able to identify their body type and gain knowledge as to how to find clothing that will enhance their professional appearance.
