This interactive workshop is geared to raise awareness of Vicarious Trauma (VT) to professionals including interpreters who are working with Deaf and Hard of Hearing population. Vicarious Trauma can be symptomatic in professionals who have experienced trauma in their life. This is a result that develops through time from empathic engagement in working with traumatized clients. It can lead to serious mental, physical and emotional states in professionals. The workshop will include professionals’ abilities in identifying triggers of VT, and how to implement personal VT prevention and crisis plans.

 

Workshop Objectives 

Upon the completion of the training, the participants:

 1.)   Will understand the process of vicarious trauma.

2.)   Will recognize symptoms and triggers of vicarious trauma

3.)   Will implement new prevention and crisis action plan.
